New witch in the works
This lil old lady is currently waiting for me in my studio. She is quite adamant that she needs to get her body and clothes before Thanksgiving. (I'm not sure she will get it all LOL but she can dram, right? )
She will have clay hands & feet/shoes and a soft body over a wire frame. When finished she will be around 18" tall and you will be able to gently pose her.
I'll keep the WIP photos coming as she comes to life.
And this Lil Lady will come with her own hand made book, that tells her personal story. It will be hand made and hand written by me. Cool idea, hmm?
Well, back to work!
Moonbeams & Blessings,
Jesi & McAnally - who is staying warm sleeping on the cable box. LOL

Sketchbook Sunday - 11-13-2011
Well there are new things roaming around in my head these days. Not sure what this says about me, lol but things have been getting a bit darker in OnceUponAMoon land. The freaks are wandering out.
Here's my latest sketch. (please remember, I never said I was a 2d artist! lol)
I do think he might make an appearance in 3D sometime soon. What do ya think?

I'm so excited to show you...
my newest piece. She is a doll house miniature 1:12
I couldn't show her to you until now because her new owner wanted to keep her a surprise.
But now the cat is out of the bag and the witch is too!
She will have a wonderful home with a very sweet lady that can't wait for her to arrive.
She starts her travels today. YAY!!
This little lady was commissioned and has been so much fun to make.
I LOVE swapping imaginations with people to make special pieces like this!
Just wanted to let y'all know what I was up to today.
I'll be posting my work in progress (WIP) today or tomorrow.
Check back and see who is taking shape in

Lost and Found
I've been lost. That's right, lost. Somewhere in the last year through all the ups and downs, ins and outs, and doing the "grown up thing" I got lost.
Not physically, mind you. I'm physically right here going through the daily grind. But creatively and spiritually ( which I feel are connected by a life line anyway) I have been wandering aimlessly.
I'm not sure when I got lost. I don't think I slid off the cliff of creativity and soulfullness into a pit of confusion. I think perhaps I just strayed from the trail a few steps each day, allowing the path I intended to take to slip away from me inch by inch until I found myself wandering in a desert of the soul. Things dried up.
Then things I did manage to create were set aside. I didn't connect with the wonder that was presented to me by the universe. I just took what I was given and failed to give back. So the cycle stalled. There was nothing to refill what I was putting out... and it was entirely my fault. This I own... the responsibility for my current situation.
I know that all the creativity I have is given to me as a gift, and I am supposed to take that gift and give it away in the form of my art, be it sculpting, drawing, or writing. And when I stop fulfilling MY end of the bargain, then the whole process dissolves. The inspiration stops and I am left wandering aimlessly with an unfulfilled soul. Things begin to become overgrown in the forest of my mind and briers and brushes clog the path to clarity.
It's time I got back on the path. It's time to find my way back to the winding road that brings me to you each day with something to share.
It's time to pick up my soul, turn on the spiritual GPS and get back where I belong.
Tomorrow is a new start to an old journey. I hope you will join me.

The travels of Bent Willow Woman
Bent Willow Woman is a doll that I started for the Art Dolls Only Traveling Art Doll Project. She left me in March and has been traveling to different members of my group, The American Pies. Each month a different doll maker adds her creative touches to Bent Willow Woman (BWW) and then writes in the journal that is traveling with her. The project is nearing the end and I wanted to share her travels so far.
Here is how she looked when she started:

ooooooo Something New!
Well as promised,
here is my newest Root Witch,
Wind Dancer
She started out as something totally different.
Then when I began sculpting, those eyes started speaking to me
She managed to lift my spirits on a day when I almost thought it was impossible to feel peace.
She has been hanging around to reminding me the only reason I can't dance on the wind is because I don't believe.
Every day she greets me with her arms outstretched,
offering her wisdom and love.
Tempting me to believe...
She has been a wonderful companion
and now I'd like to share her with you.
Three days only.
No reserve
I hope you enjoy her.
More to come tomorrow.

I'm not a zombie...
I have not returned from the grave; just from some rather intense medical procedures. Sorry to have been quiet for so long...But I'm sure you'd rather not talk about that. I know I'd rather skip the whole conversation. LOL Let's just say I'm better than I have been in a LONG TIME and I plan to stay this way.
Let's grab a cup of something yummy and catch up, shall we?
Lets see, since we talked last McAnally and I have decided to bring a new fuzzybaby into the house. Her name is Leannan Sidhe and she was 4 weeks old yesterday.
She lives with our neighbor and has been coming to visit for the last two weeks. She's a quiet girl, but she has attitude. McAnally thinks she is great. He does, however, think she needs a kitty makeover and is doing his best to give her one when they aren't playing hid-n-seek. LOL
The music man and I went to Allentown Art Festival June 11th. Wow! what fun! So many artists with amazing works. And the food was yummy too :) We had a wonderful time talking to the artists and grabbing up some goodies.
We bought some lovely cards from Kevin Stone at FlyingWhaleStudios. They are from the Rural Blight Collection. I just fell in love with "Louder Sang The Ghost" & "The Things We Lost". We picked up 6 in all and they are framed and hanging on my kitchen wall. I couldn't bear to send them once I got them home. LOL I WILL be buying some larger prints from that collection. I LOVE IT!
Check out these rockin' airship ornaments by Joe Sturckler! If you love them like I do, you can contact him HERE (click for email)
The Music Man had to DRAG me away from James Browne's booth.
I SO want to buy everything he has for my studio. It just puts me in that magical frame of mind. But out of all the lovelies he has, "Moon Sitting" is my absolute fave! I WILL have a copy of that for my studio. Perhaps then my muse will get the hint and Moon Sit me :)
We took a tour of the Trinity Church in Buffalo. The windows in this church are AMAZING! My photos do not do them justice.
I could go on and on about things we saw, but I'll save some of it for later.
It's good to be back. I'll have some new pieces to show you very soon. So be sure to check back in.
My plan is to post at least on Monday, Wed & Friday. Anyone who knows me knows I ALWAYS have something to talk about. LOL
So lets see how good I am at keeping my schedule.

Dolls traveling everywhere!
After an absolutely insanely wonderful time during One World One Heart I guess I just dropped off the face of the earth. Sorry about that. I've been totally scatter brained for the last three weeks.
First I had to mail out B-Wilder to Dolly. She won B-wilder in the ADO drawing) Tracking says she's there, so I'm hoping I'll hear from Dolly soon...
I'm working on Shelle's new doll for the OWOH give away. She's in Australia and I couldn't mail Tas-Elmish to her due to custom regulations. So I'm creating a doll just for her. No hints Shelle LOL It's going to be a surprise.
I also had to get my doll & journal finished for ADO's Traveling Art Doll Project 2011. This is my first year and I'm so excited to be a part of it.
Here's a quick chronicle of my doll, who is currently on her way to Mary Palmer of Starry Nite Farms to "get herself together"
.
She's off to Florida to visit Mary Palmer and find out more about herself and what she looks like.

The winner is .... well ....
The time had come to draw for winners on my OWOH giveaway. I put all the numbers down on tiny bits of paper and scrunched them into balls. Then I tossed them out on the floor and Mac, the ultimate fetching cat, chose one of the papers to be the winner. He brought it over to me and it was:
# 116 Shelle from sunshineshelles.blogspot.com from Australia.
However, I have checked with customs in Australia and they won't allow Tas to enter the country. He is made of plant materials and will be destroyed if I mail him. I was crushed.
Sorry Shelle, I had no idea I couldn't get him to you.
But never fear! I will be making a new piece for Shelle. I have emailed her and will post a photo of the new custom doll I will be sending her as soon as it is completed.
Thank you all for being a part of OWOH and visiting my blog. I hope you keep stopping in and please leave comments. I love them so...
Moonbeams & Blessings,
Jesi & Mac, who is eagerly awaiting the next giveaway so he can pick the winner again. :)

She has hair!!!
For all of you who have been oh so patiently waiting from my newest Wild Woman to be finished. I thank you.
She has finally picked out her clothes, her accessories and has a lovely new hairstyle. And she announced today that her name is "Mother Herb" in honor of my dear friend & soul sister, Cerri Ellis. (http://www.cerriellis.viviti.com) Stay out of the pyramids, girlfriend! (long LONG story LOL)

Without further ado, here is a quickie photo of "Mother Herb"
She is wearing a long green under dress with a paisley over skirt.
Her shawl is hand woven by me.
She carries a basket of green things gathered in the forest.
She walks with a staff, for her days are many upon the earth.
Around her waist there is a turtle shell pouch.
( made by Barbara Kopang of https://www.oddestgoddess.com/ )
Mother Herb's feet are bare so that she can stay grounded and close to the earth.
My blog readers and Facebook friends are getting a sneak peak tonight.
If you are interested in her, feel free to email me.
As always I'd love to have your feedback on "Mother Herb"
Until tomorrow,

One World One Heart 2011
Welcome to Once Upon A Moon Studios. My name is Jesi Ferguson and I'm a mixed media artist specializing in Art Dolls.
Ok, so much for the stuffy intro line. Thanks for stopping by to see us! The fuzzy guy is SiR T. H. McAnally, art critic extraordinaire. He pretty much runs the place. I'm just the hired help.
My dolls are all flights of fantasy that escaped from my head and onto my work bench. If I sculpt them fast enough I can capture them. If not, they may wander around the studio for days or weeks before I get them tamed down and sculpted.
At the moment there is a root dryad that is pacing around waiting on clothes and a wise woman with no hair who is not very happy with me at all. ( I really should be in the studio LOL but I wanted to make sure to tell you hello) You can see more of the things that wander out of my imagination by clicking on the GALLERY link at the top of the blog.
OK, enough about me. Let's talk about One World One Heart.
- It is open to everyone world wide. Yes, this mean you! :)
- All you have to do to enter the drawing for the door prize is leave a comment on this blog. Be sure to leave a way that I can contact you if you are chosen the winner. (Your working email address would be great! )
- That's all you have to do! Cool, right?
- The winner will be announced on Feb. 17
- I will post the winner's name on my blog and I will also email the winner. (That's why I need your REAL email address LOL)
Now, let's see what you have a chance to win!!
Click on the photo to see a larger image
His name is Tas-elmish. He is a twig sprite who has taken up residence in my yard. He's a very happy guy considering he just lost his home. He used to live in a small run of trees near here, but the neighbors showed up with a bulldozer, and, well, he felt a move was in order. I have an inkling that a few of his friends will be moving in also.
Tas-Elmish is one of a kind (OOAK). He was designed and sculpted entirely from my imagination.
No molds were used during sculpting. None were made after the piece was finished.
Tas-Elmish is a mixed media piece. His body is a found twig and smaller ones make up his arms as well. His head is a goldenrod seed pod that was sculpted over to give him his quirky smile. His dark glistening eyes are black glass beads and he wears a lovely moss ensemble to protect his modesty.
Tas is approx. 15 inches tall from the tips of his arms to the bottom of his... twig. He is about 6.5 inches wide at the arms. There is a small wire loop on his back so that he may be hung up for display.
I'm so excited that this little guy will be finding a new home.
Well, Mac is telling me it's time to go give a wise woman some hair. He's such a slave driver... LOL
Stop back by anytime!!! We love company!
Moonbeams & Blessings,
Jesi & Mac
P.S !!! I also have a doll in the ADO One World One Heart give away, so you have a chance to win 2 OOAK pieces by me. Just visit the Art Doll Only blog at http://artdollsonly.blogspot.com/2011/01/one-world-one-heart-giveaway.html
